We believe that:

  • All children must have a nurturing learning environment.
  • All children must develop self-esteem if they are to have the confidence to learn.
  • All children must be respected for their unique gifts and talents.
  • All children can develop their capabilities throughout life if they apply effective effort to the learning process.
  • All children can meet and exceed established expectations for success and achievement.
  • BCPS students can attain 21st century standards of development: learning a second language and calculus, writing a 25-page paper, and applying ethics and aesthetic values.
  • All staff and students must view learning as a limitless process: "Smart is not something you are; smart is something you can get."
  • All staff is accountable for measurable student outcomes.
  • All staff and students should pursue continuous improvement.
